Bold initiatives are needed to foster civic pride, keep our streets safe and clean, build and expand affordable housing, support small businesses and nonprofits, and strengthen our Special Improvement Districts. We must also invest in infrastructure, build quality education for our children, and ensure a strong local economy. about Meredith

Meredith Burns Improving Jersey City for Everyone

Community Leader & Arts Director

Meredith Burns is a proud fourth-generation Jersey City resident with deep roots in public service. Her family has long served the community—her mother as a nurse, her father as Deputy Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Management, and her brother as a Jersey City Fire Captain.

Meredith began her career as an actor, performing Off-Broadway and regionally. She co-founded Glass Bandits Theater Company and later led an arts-based afterschool program in Brooklyn, serving over 200 children daily. Since 2017, she has served as Executive Director of Art House Productions, expanding Jersey City’s arts and culture landscape. She played a key role in passing the Jersey City Arts Fund, New Jersey’s first municipal trust fund for the arts, and has received the NJCU Leadership Award and Women of Action Award from Councilman James Solomon for her contributions. She also serves on the board of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance.

She lives in Jersey City with her husband, Mike, their son, Conrad, and their Yorkshire Terrier, Maddie.
